Julia Creek Dunnart

You are invited to provide input to support the development of Queensland bioregional guidance plans.

The Queensland and Australian governments are working together to better manage cumulative impacts and threats to the environment in areas important for economic development.

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) has commenced bioregional planning in three locations, each with different focus industries:

  • Urban development in Potential Future Growth Areas (PFGAs) in south-eastern Queensland.
  • Wind farm developments in the Collinsville area in northern Queensland.
  • Minerals mining in the Julia Creek and Richmond area in north-western Queensland.

This survey is one of several ways that we are engaging and seeking feedback. The feedback we receive from across these engagements will help us draft the bioregional guidance plans in readiness for public consultation in 2026.

Your feedback will help us refine the proposed advice to be included in the draft bioregional guidance plans, including mitigation measures and their impacts on social, cultural, and economic values in each of the plan areas. It will be used to validate findings from other information sources, identify areas for further investigation, and ensure critical issues raised by stakeholders are not overlooked in developing the plans.

This survey is quite technical in nature and builds on information gathered between July and October this year.

We estimate this survey may take up to 20 minutes, however you can choose which questions you would like to answer. Before starting this survey, we strongly recommend you:

Privacy statement

Why we request your personal information:

  • Your input will inform the project team (DETSI and its contractors) to understand the biodiversity, social, cultural and economic values for the region. This information will help develop a bioregional guidance plan in partnership with the Commonwealth Government.
  • DETSI uses an online engagement platform to seek feedback on various issues and initiatives. We try to minimise the personal information collected, but we need your name and contact details to register you as a user, which allows you to complete surveys, be kept updated on projects, and to be notified of future activities (if you choose).
  • The platform we use is called ‘In the loop’, hosted on EngagementHQ, a third-party cloud-based service platform owned and operated by Granicus.
  • All personal information gathered by DETSI is treated in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009. For further details view the DETSI privacy policy.
  • Your responses to survey questions are de-identified (i.e. do not identify any personal or organisational information) and may be used in publications, reports, and for research. This de-identified data may also be used to inform other projects funded by the Queensland or Australian Governments.
