Consultation has concluded
You are invited to provide input on the Queensland bioregional pilot plans.
The Queensland and Australian governments are working together to better manage cumulative impacts and threats to the environment in areas important for economic development.
We have commenced bioregional planning in three locations, focussed on:
Urban development in Potential Future Growth Areas (PFGAs) in south-eastern Queensland
Wind farm developments in the Collinsville area in northern Queensland
Mineral mining in the Julia Creek and Richmond area in north-western Queensland.
Your input will inform the project team to better understand the relevant biodiversity, social, cultural and economic values for each of the pilot regions. This will enable us to analyse potential impacts and develop guidance on avoiding and mitigating the cumulative impacts of the targeted development types in each of the pilot plan areas.
Consultation closes 5pm, Thursday 4 September 2025.
Privacy statement
Why we request your personal information:
Your input will inform the project team (DETSI and its contractors) to understand the biodiversity, social, cultural and economic values for the region. This information will be used to develop a bioregional plan in partnership with the Commonwealth Government.
The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) uses an online engagement platform to seek feedback on various issues and initiatives. We try to minimise the personal information collected, but we need your name and contact details to register you as a user, which allows you to complete surveys, be kept updated on projects, and to be notified of future activities (if you choose).
The platform we use is called ‘In the loop’, hosted on EngagementHQ, a third-party cloud-based service platform owned and operated by Granicus.
All personal information gathered by DETSI is treated in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009. For further details view the DETSI privacy policy.
Your responses to survey questions are de-identified (i.e. do not identify any personal or organisational information) and may be used in publications, reports, and for research. This de-identified data may also be used to inform other projects funded by the Queensland or Australian Governments.
