The Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP) guides how the government and communities (including Traditional Owners, the agriculture industry, local government and others) work together to improve water quality in our local waterways and the Great Barrier Reef (Reef). The WQIP is currently under review (find more information here).

As part of the review process, Reef partnership organisations, Traditional Owners, stakeholders and the wider community will also be consulted.

This survey is part of the “listening phase” of the review and one of several ways that you can participate in the review. Other engagement activities including information seminars and workshops will be featured on this page.

An overview of all projects and other relevant topics that contribute to the review are being covered in a seminar series, which is now open for registration (see dates and topics on this page).

The review is an opportunity to share your experiences and views about how to improve your local water quality, the health of your Reef catchment and your (and your community’s) connection to your catchment and to the Reef. It is an opportunity to celebrate our successes and discuss new opportunities for how Reef catchments will be managed in the future to support a healthy Reef.

Your input will inform the development of the next plan – including the objectives, implementation principles and priority actions. It will be considered along with other information such as the Scientific Consensus Statement.

Consultation closes at 5pm on 30-Sept-2024.
