Great Sandy Marine Park Zoning Plan Review consultation - extended

The Queensland Government is undertaking a review of the zoning plan for the Great Sandy Marine Park and is proposing changes.

The zoning plan outlines the rules to manage the multiple uses of the park and defines different zones that provide for different levels of protection and different uses.

The proposed changes are described in a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement.

If you are interested in the future management of the park, or visit or use the marine park, it’s important for you to provide feedback on the proposed changes. We are specifically seeking feedback on how well the proposed changes conserve and manage the marine park and/or affect you in the following key areas:

• Habitat protection (green, yellow and dark blue zoning)
• The designated Great Sandy Area and commercial fishing
• Line fishing in yellow zones
• Protecting threatened species
• Coastal management
• Protecting cultural values
• Platypus Bay.

Personal information provided by way of responses to this online survey is collected by the Department of Environment and Science (the department) for the purpose of informing the Great Sandy Marine Park zoning plan review and the development of a final revised zoning plan for the marine park. The department may contact you for further information on the issues you raise in your submission or to notify you of the outcome of the zoning plan review. The data may also be used to inform future management initiatives for the marine park. Information collected from this online survey will be provided to the Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef as per section 23 of the Marine Parks Act 2004.
