The Queensland Government is collaborating with the Australian Government to pilot bioregional guidance planning in Queensland.
Bioregional guidance planning is a strategic approach established under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (EPBC Act) which guides how cumulative impacts to the environment should be managed in an area of economic importance. It aims to provide better environmental outcomes and greater certainty for industries by offering clear guidance on managing development impacts within the context of other threats, such as climate change.
You are invited to provide feedback on the draft Brigalow Belt North bioregional guidance plan and draft Gulf Plains bioregional guidance plan (the draft Plans).
This survey is aimed at seeking feedback on the draft Plans, in particular:
The useability of the draft Plans
The extent to which the draft Plans can help make better decisions
The useability of the Bioregional Planning Interactive Tool.
Your input is important. It will help refine the draft Plans to ensure that we are providing clear and concise guidance.
This survey is one of several ways the department is seeking feedback. If you do not wish to provide feedback via a survey, you are welcome to write a submission and/or attend a workshop. If you would like to make a submission or attend a workshop, please email us at bioregional.planning@detsi.qld.gov.au
Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 17 July 2026.

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) uses an online engagement platform to seek feedback on various issues and initiatives. We try to minimise the personal information collected, but we need your name and contact details to register you as a user, which allows you to complete surveys, be kept updated on projects, and to be notified of future activities (if you choose).
Your input will inform the project team (DETSI and its contractors) to understand feedback on the draft bioregional guidance plans. This information will be used to refine the draft bioregional guidance plans.
The platform we use is called ‘In the Loop’, hosted on Sentiment & Feedback, a third-party cloud-based service platform owned and operated by Granicus.
Your personal information will be disclosed to Articulous Pty Ltd, who are contracted by DETSI to assist with stakeholder engagement, for the purpose of collating and analysing this data and feedback.
All personal information gathered by DETSI is treated in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009. For further details view the DETSI privacy policy.
Your responses to survey questions are de-identified (i.e. do not identify any personal or organisational information) and may be used in publications, reports, and for research. This de-identified data may also be used to inform other projects funded by the Queensland or Australian Governments.
If your personal information to register is not provided, you will be unable to register to complete the survey.
For more information about how DETSI handles personal information, including how to seek access to or amend your own personal information, please refer to DETSI privacy policy or contact DETSI’s Bioregional Planning team at bioregional.planning@detsi.qld.gov.au.
